Methods For Obtaining PMA Certification
3 approaches to achieve PMA certification:
- Test and Computation: This rigorous process involves extensive testing and computational analysis to validate PMA parts’ design and performance, ensuring they meet or exceed safety standards.
- Identicality Without License: Here, the applicant must develop PMA parts independently, demonstrating that they are functionally identical to OEM parts through careful design and testing.
- Identicality With License: By securing a licensing agreement with the OEM, the applicant leverage their design data to produce PMA parts that adhere strictly to OEM specifications, followed by thorough testing for verification.
Classifying PMA Parts
We categorize PMA parts into two groups:
• Standard PMAs: Typically, straightforward components that require engineering, testing, and validation but less extensively than complex PMAs. Most PMA parts fall into this category.
